Biography

Dr Jasna Aleksova is an endocrinologist and clinical researcher who completed her medical degree at Melbourne University and her endocrine training at St Vincent’s Hospital and Monash Health. Her PhD examined novel risk factors and imaging tools to improve fracture prediction in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and transplantation, and was funded through the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

Dr Aleksova continues her research as a post-doctoral fellow, looking at imaging tools to improve the bone health of patients with CKD and transplantation. She is also looking at the impacts of diabetes on bone health and how the concurrent conditions of CKD and diabetes may further lead to bone fragility, and how to best optimise their management.

As a practising endocrinologist in the metabolic bone clinics at Monash Health, Dr Aleksova’s research is directly translated into improving the care of these patients.
